Popular Nigerian singer Peter Okoye of the P-Square music group has threatened legal action against two banks in Nigeria for allowing his identity to be used for impersonation.
Okoye took to social media to express his frustration over the fact that scammers have been opening bank accounts in his name and using them to defraud people. He specifically named Access Bank and Polaris Bank, accusing them of failing to do due diligence when the accounts were opened.

Okoye said that he has been running a lottery scheme, and that scammers have been taking advantage of this by posing as him and asking people to send them money. He said that he has received numerous complaints from people who have been scammed, and that he is fed up with the situation.
Okoye has threatened to sue the two banks for damages, and he has also called on other banks to be more vigilant in preventing impersonation. He believes that the banks are partly to blame for the scams that have occurred, as they should have taken steps to verify the identities of the people who opened the accounts in his name.
