Yul Edochie is under fire from both his peers and fans alike after he made a comment about his first wife, May’s response to his second marriage.
He posted on Instagram that he was proud to be a polygamist and explained why he chose to take a second wife after 17 years with May.

Recall that Yul Edochie unveiled actress Judy Austin as his second wife in April 2022.
Yul believes God called him to marry a second woman in order to provide his son with an identity. To back up his words, he cited Exodus 21:10.
He admitted that May wasn’t pleased with the news of the union, but it turned out to be a blessing for her.
“Therefore polygamy came with many blessings. Blessings for me, blessings for my wife Queen May to calm her down cos as a human being she’ll definitely not be happy about it, and blessings for my wife Judy as well.” He wrote in part.
His remarks didn’t go over well with people; many of them expressed their dissatisfaction in the comments section.
Reacting, actress, Peggy Ovire wrote, “You had too do this on Sunday morning”.
Media personality, Daddy Freeze wrote,
“My brother there is nothing wrong with polygamy. It is scriptural like you noted. Abraham, David and Solomon were all polygamists. Polygamy can’t stop you from being a man of God. However, the only issue is that May @mayyuledochie is NOT happy. Traditionally (with regards to Nigerian culture) and scripturally, the first wife must consent. May made it clear that she didn’t consent. This is my issue. Do have yourself a happy holiday.”
