On Wednesday night, Canada’s World Cup campaign got underway, and several of the players were making their big-stage debuts.
Sam Adekugbe, one of these debutants, was born to Nigerian parents in London, United Kingdom, and his family migrated to Canada when he was just nine years old.

He acquired Canadian citizenship and is currently representing the National team on football’s biggest stage.
Dee Adekugbe, Sam’s mother, could not contain her pleasure as she watched her son on television and continued yelling.. My son plays in the world cup.
Dee was so happy that it appeared she had lost her voice, but she didn’t care in the slightest because she was just really pleased to see her kid play football.
Posting the video, she wrote;
My son @SamAdekugbe is in the world cup….oh my God. Hallelujah
Canada, however, lost their first game to Belgium by one goal to nil, but they undoubtedly would be wanting to come back from the defeat in their upcoming encounters.
