A suspected cable vandal at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra State, was electrocuted while attempting to steal high-voltage wire.

An unfortunate occurrence took place in the vicinity of the Faculty of Education and Economics on Monday.
An unidentified man who had just cut a cable high-tension pole was electrocuted when the Enugu Efrom alectricity Distribution Company (EEDC) suddenly restored power.
“On Wednesday morning, passersby found a man’s lifeless body hanging from an electric pole. Energy distribution workers were seen removing the body.”
A university source said that on Tuesday morning, they found a man’s body hanging from an electric pole near the new Faculty of Education building and the Department of Economics.
Evidence suggested that the man had been cutting a high-tension cable when Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) restored power, electrocuting him.
“EEDC officials, police officers, and university safety officials were present as the body was retrieved around 11am. The source witnessed the retrieval but wished to remain anonymous.”
