About Lakehead University
With campuses in Thunder Bay and Orillia, Ontario, Canada, Lakehead University is an institution of higher learning that focuses on research. Non-denominational and supported by the province, Lakehead University (also known as LU) is a recognized university.
The institution houses the western campus of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and offers graduate and undergraduate programs, as well as housing the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law, the only AACSB-accredited business school in northern Ontario.
There are around 45,000 alumni of the university. A little under 7,900 students attend the Thunder Bay campus. A new permanent expansion site in Orillia, located roughly 150 kilometers (93 km) north of Toronto, has over 1,400 students by September 2006.
Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Faculty of Health and Behavioral Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities, Natural Resources Management, Science and Environmental Studies, Medicine, and Graduate Studies are the school’s other 8 faculties. The Faculty of Law welcomed its first students in September 2013.
With almost 30% of the total student population, the Social Sciences & Humanities department of Lakehead University is the largest faculty, followed by Science & Environmental Studies, Engineering, Health and Behavioral Sciences, Education, and Business Administration. Natural Resources Management and Medicine are two minor faculties, each with less than 2% of applicants enrolling.

- $7,500 – one academic year (For 90%+)
- $5,000 – one academic year (For 80.0% – 89.9%)
- $4,000 – one academic year (For 75.0% – 79.9%)
Eligibility for International Entrance Scholarships
Application conditions for international entrance scholarships are as follows:
Non-Canadian students who are transferring from an overseas institution or university or who entered Lakehead University after completing a recognized high school program. The grant is available to outstanding international high school students applying to Lakehead University for the academic years 2022–2023.
How to Apply for International Entrance Scholarships

Steps to Apply: First, students must be admitted to the university’s undergraduate degree programs. You will be automatically considered for the financial prize after being accepted.
A prior degree is required for those who are interested.
All overseas applicants who do not speak English as their first language must demonstrate their proficiency in the language.
To be eligible for the award, applicants must have an academic average (Canadian Equivalent) of between 75% and 90%.
