Lagos businessman, IVD arraigned for death of his wife, Bimbo


Ikechukwu Ogbonna, also known as IVD, a Nigerian businessman, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter of his late wife, Abimbola, and arraigned before Justice Nicole-Clay at the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja.

The charge, which was brought against IVD by the Lagos State Government, was for an alleged offence committed on October 12, 2022, when Abimbola died in a fire incident at their residence in Lekki.

The prosecutor, Adeshola Bello, informed the court that there was an error in the date of the alleged offence, which the court granted permission to amend.

“We have on record October 10 but the date was October 12,” Bello said.


Ogbonna pleaded not guilty to the charge, and his defence counsel, Mr Victor Ogunde, SAN, requested bail for his client.

The judge adjourned the case till March 30, May 24, and 25, 2023, for the commencement of trial.
