Oxlade, a Nigerian singer and songwriter whose real name is Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman, has revealed that he had to take up various odd jobs to survive after leaving home to pursue his music career.
To support his musical aspirations, Oxlade resorted to selling bus tickets, which is typically a job carried out by motor park touts known as “agbero.”

I ran away from the house at some point in my life to pursue music personally. And I had to do all sorts of stuff to survive. Selling bus tickets and selling foods at parties.”
He emphasised that he was from the Surulere neighbourhood of Lagos and declared that “if you can survive there, you can survive anywhere.”
He continued by saying that the ghetto experience had improved his decision-making.
