Nigerian socialite, Sam Larry, has released a statement alleging that he paid Mohbad N2 million to perform at his mother’s funeral, but Mohbad backed out of the event without issuing a refund.
In the statement, Larry claims that he confronted Mohbad about the unpaid fee, and that the two got into an argument. Larry also alleges that Mohbad was having a music video shoot next door to Larry’s house at the time, and that Larry went to the shoot to demand his money.
Larry claims that he has since traveled to Kenya to find a new artist to perform at his mother’s concert, and that he has no knowledge of Mohbad’s death.
“I came here willingly and happily,” Larry said in the statement. “I know nothing about how the musician died.”
Larry’s statement comes at a time when Mohbad’s death is still being investigated. Mohbad was found dead in his home on September 29, and his cause of death has not yet been released.
Larry’s statement has sparked outrage on social media, with many people accusing him of threatening and harassing Mohbad. Larry has denied these accusations, and says that he is simply trying to get his money back.
“I have lost a lot more money than that before,” Larry said in the statement. “You win some you loose some.”
It remains to be seen whether Larry’s statement will affect the investigation into Mohbad’s death. However, it is clear that Larry’s allegations have cast a shadow over Mohbad’s legacy.
