Are you a recent graduate with a keen interest in international relations? Want to learn more about the work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests in South Africa?

This traineeship is based within the Political, Press, and Information (PPI) Section. Here, you’ll be contributing to the Delegation’s work on EU-South Africa relations, and you’ll also get the chance to work with colleagues from other sections of the EU Delegation whenever necessary.

The PPI also backs the Head of Delegation as an observer to ECOWAS, keeps an eye on regional developments, and reports on relevant issues. It plays a crucial role in assisting the Head of Delegation in coordinating with Member States on political, regional, consular, migration, and security matters.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the European Union Traineeship, you need to:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Hold a university-level degree.

Qualifications or Special Requirements:

  • You should have at least a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Law, Social Studies, Politics, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong English skills, both written and spoken, are a must.
  • You should also possess solid writing and research skills.
  • A strong commitment, the ability to meet deadlines, eagerness to learn, and a willingness to contribute to the EU Delegation’s activities are essential.

Additional qualifications that could be a plus:

  • An additional degree in another field.

Benefits

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to help with living expenses. On average, trainees can expect to receive about €800 per month. This financial support is aimed at making your traineeship period manageable and more comfortable.

The traineeship lasts up to 6 months, taking place within the Political, Press, and Information Section of the EU Delegation to South Africa, and it starts in October 2024.
