Kemi Olunloyo, a controversial journalist, took to her X, formerly known as Twitter, to accuse the singer Naira Marley of owing the late musician Mohbad approximately N300 million. According to her, Mohbad’s net worth amounts to $690,000. She confidently made these assertions, asserting that she had thoroughly researched the matter.

Kemi Olunloyo recently revealed intriguing insights about Mohbad and the music industry. According to her research, Mohbad’s musical empire, as of today, is estimated to be worth an impressive N700 million, roughly equivalent to $690,000.
Moreover, Kemi disclosed that Naira Marley, a prominent figure in the Nigerian music scene, owes Mohbad a substantial sum of N300 million in song royalties. In her previous discussion, she highlighted the leading songwriters in Nigeria, identifying Tiwa, Teni, and surprisingly, Mohbad as the top three. Mohbad’s songwriting contributions, it appears, encompass a significant 97% of Marlian music tracks.
Kemi also shed light on the importance of royalties for songwriters, citing the @SOCANFoundation as an illustrative example during her tenure as a Canadian Grammy Judge at @TheJUNOAwards.
Mohbad had a serious issue with Naira Marley. He felt that Naira Marley wasn’t giving him the money he earned from music sales and streams. Their business relationship was really bad.
In Nigeria’s music industry, we need more mentors for artists. If we can get rid of the drug use and harmful group associations, our music scene could become even more successful on a global scale.
Davido took a risk by getting involved in a group despite warnings. It’s a complex situation that only those who understand the dynamics can grasp. Many in the music industry won’t speak out against certain influential figures due to these group affiliations.
I think Mohbad should consider involving legal help as his earnings grow. If Naira Marley continues to hold his funds, going to court might be necessary, even though it could turn into a difficult legal battle.

Zlatan and Bella Shmurda advised Mohbad to endure the situation, but sometimes, seeking legal recourse is the right move. It’s like advising someone to stay in a harmful relationship; it only leads to more damage in the end.
Staying in such a toxic environment can have severe consequences, affecting both mental and physical health. Substance abuse and stress-related issues can take a toll on an artist’s well-being.
Mohbad’s biggest songs are under Marlian music, and he’s contributed significantly to other artists’ success. All this adds up to a substantial amount of money, and he deserves to be rightfully compensated for his hard work.
