“BBNaija relationships are a big scam. I was with Ike for the money” – Mercy Eke spills

Big Brother Naija season 4 winner, Mercy Eke, recently shared her opinion that relationships formed from the reality TV show are a complete fraud.

She discussed this matter while reflecting on her unsuccessful relationship with co-star, Ike Onyema, in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo.

Prior to their romance coming to an end in 2020, Mercy and Ike had met during the BBNaija 2019 edition and embarked on a relationship that was publicized in the reality show “Mercy & Eke.”

Mercy confessed that at first, she genuinely liked Ike and even kept up their relationship for the money although it became performative with time.

She confessed that if she had known she was going to be such a successful housemate, she wouldn’t have dated Ike because their relationship was not functional anymore.

Her words,

“BBNaija relationships are the biggest scam, it was even original for me initially, as a matter of fact, if I had known that I was a strong housemate and that people loved me for me, I wouldn’t have bothered getting involved with him.

I wouldn’t say it was a strategy, for me, we flowed with it but we had to put up a show even when not happy for people who aren’t even in relationships. If it is not working out, you move but in my case I couldn’t, I had to be there cos of money, otherwise, I won’t have my complete money.”
