Overview:

The Agency Fund is excited to announce a new open call for grant funding, with a minimum of $1 million up for grabs.

We’re on the lookout for groundbreaking projects that align with our mission to broaden human agency and improve lives in ways that are scalable and cost-effective. If your project can engage over 1,000 users, help people shift their beliefs and perspectives, and has measurable results, we want to hear about it.

Funding Opportunity Details:

Project Requirements:

• Your project should engage more than 1,000 users.
• It needs to help people update their beliefs, perspectives, or mental models, and you should be able to demonstrate these outcomes.
• You should measure outcomes for both users and a comparison group of non-users to gauge impact.
• The aim is for the project to reach over 1 million people by 2030.

Application Deadline:
The deadline is Thursday, October 31st, at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.

Funding Available:
At least $1 million in total awards are available for this round.

What We Fund:

Fellowships:
We offer fellowships once or twice a year to social entrepreneurs. These fellowships come with a fixed contribution of $70,000 over seven months. The expectation is that by the end of the fellowship period, you’ll produce a prototype, paper, or social venture.

Time-Limited Projects:
About once a quarter, we fund projects that aim to implement and test specific ideas. The details and deadlines for these projects are provided in the calls for proposals.

Unrestricted and In-Kind Support:
From time to time, we provide unrestricted and in-kind support, such as tech, data, or research, to organizations working at the intersection of research and implementation. This support is usually by invitation only and is contingent on past successful fellowship or project awards.

Ecosystem Initiatives:
We also back ecosystem initiatives that invest in shared assets and other public goods. Similar to the unrestricted support, this is invitation-only and relies on previous successful fellowship or project awards.

Relevance to Human Agency:
Does your approach align with our core values? Does it engage people’s consciousness and respect their dignity? Does it provide relevant insights that help people gain new perspectives on their options and capabilities?

Leverage & Synergy:
Does your idea use technology to engage people on a scalable level? Does it build on an existing network, or does it have the potential to cross-pollinate with other approaches we’re considering?

Data & Learning:
Is your idea grounded in science, such as development economics, behavioral science, or social psychology? Does your organization use data to quickly adapt, and is there a pathway to credible evidence of exceptional cost-effectiveness?
