Brief Description:
The Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) offers postgraduate study opportunities in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields.

Scholarship Value/Inclusions:
The ADB-JSP covers full tuition fees, a monthly subsistence and housing allowance, allowance for books and instructional materials, medical insurance, and travel expenses. The scholarship is initially awarded for one year, with a possibility of extension to the second year based on the scholar’s performance. The maximum duration of the scholarship is two years for master’s and doctoral programs.
Eligibility:
– National of an ADB borrowing member country
– Admission to an approved MA/PhD course at an academic institution
– Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with a strong academic record
– Minimum of two years of full-time professional work experience acquired after obtaining a university degree
– Proficiency in oral and written English communication skills
– Maximum age limit of 35 years (or 45 years for senior officials and managers in exceptional cases)
– Good health
– Agreement to return to the home country after completing studies
– Not eligible for ADB-JSP: ADB staff, consultants, relatives of ADB staff, staff of academic institutions, applicants living or working in a country other than their home country, applicants already enrolled in graduate degree programs, and those seeking undergraduate studies, distance learning programs, short-term training, conferences, seminars, thesis writing, and research projects.

Applicants should request information and application forms from the chosen academic institution. Indicate to the institution that you are applying for admission and wish to be considered for the ADB-JSP Scholarship. Submit the completed institution application form and required documentation, including the ADB-JSP Information Sheet, to the academic institution. No separate application to ADB is required.
Submit scholarship applications at least six months before the planned start of studies. Refer to the participating academic institutions’ websites for specific application deadlines.
