Famous Nollywood actress and politician, Funke Akindele has disclosed why she refrained from using Twitter after losing the gubernatorial election in Lagos state.
As the running mate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Funke Akindele had to abandon her political aspirations after being defeated by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

After her loss in the election, she removed all political campaign-related posts from her social media accounts and only left up posts related to movie promotions. On Twitter, she maintained a low profile and only sporadically shared content related to her movies.
On Thursday, she posted a delightful video of herself on Twitter, which prompted a flurry of reactions from her fans, many of whom were curious as to why she had been absent from the platform for so long.

Reacting, a follower wrote, “Madam Funke, I sight you… Longest time.. you run away from us abi wot happen?”
Funke, in her response, disclosed that she left Twitter because the platform is toxic and unhealthy due to excessive insults from trolls.
“Dem too dey insult people on this app, so I stay off,” she wrote.
