An entirely financed scholarship is the AAUW International Fellowship Program. The American Association of University Women, USA, is the organization providing this scholarship.

All nations of the world have students studying abroad who are eligible to apply. The AAUW International Fellowship Program is exclusively open to students pursuing graduate and postgraduate degrees in any university-offered discipline.

The AAUW Fellowship Program offers annual awards ranging from $18,000 to $30,000, subject to renewal requirements.

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) awards international fellowships to women who are neither citizens or lawful permanent residents of the United States for full-time study or research in the country. At approved institutions, graduate and postgraduate studies are supported.

The International Fellowships program was first established to provide Latin American women with chances for graduate and postgraduate study in the United States, and it awarded its first fellowship in 1917. More than 3,600 women from more than 150 countries have received International Fellowships as a result of the program’s expansion to include women from all around the world.

AAUW International Fellowship Program Benefits

The recipients of the AAUW International Fellowship Program receive the following benefits:

Master’s/Professional Fellowship: $18,000 in awards.
$20k for a doctoral fellowship.
$30k Postdoctoral Fellowship
The following expenses are eligible for international fellowship money: education costs.

AAUW International Fellowship Program Eligibility

Those interested in applying for the AAUW International Fellowship Program must fulfill the requirements listed below:

Eligible Countries: All nations bar the United States
possess a non-immigrant visa if resident in the U.S., or have citizenship in a nation other than the U.S. Women who now have the status of U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or dual citizen of the U.S. and another country, or who anticipate doing so during the fellowship year, are ineligible.
Have earned, by November 15, 2020, an academic degree (in the US or overseas) that is comparable to a US bachelor’s degree.
At the start of the fellowship year, intend to permanently dedicate oneself to the suggested academic plan.

The applicant must upload the most recent ETS TOEFL* (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score unless she can demonstrate that English is her first language (written statement required), that she earned her secondary diploma or undergraduate degree from an English-speaking institution (transcript required), or that she will have finished one semester of full-time study in her discipline at an English-speaking college or university between November 2018 and November 2020 (transcript required). Institutional TOEFL scores and results from other English language testing programs (like IELTS) won’t be accepted.

Minimum acceptable score: 60 for the Revised TOEFL Paper-Delivered Test; 550 for the Paper-Based Test (TOEFL PBT, no older than October 2018); 79 for the Internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT, no older than November 2018). (no older than November 2018).

Doctoral and master’s applicants should have submitted applications by November 15, 2020, to a reputable academic institution of study for the fellowship year, and they must include the institution’s name in their international fellowship application.

For master’s or first professional degree programs, such as J.D., M.F.A., L.L.M., M.Arch., or medical degrees, such as M.D., D.D.S., etc., fellowships are available.

Doctoral degrees, such as a Ph.D. or an Ed.D., are eligible for doctoral fellowships.

By November 15, 2020, postdoctoral candidates must possess a doctorate that is categorized as a research degree, such as a Ph.D., Ed.D., D.B.A., or an M.F.A., and they must also state the location of their study.
Doctoral and master’s degree candidates must be enrolled during the fellowship year in a U.S.-recognized institution that is located in the U.S.
GWI members may be eligible for a limited number of prizes for study or research abroad in any country. Keep in mind that foreign divisions of American organizations are regarded as being located abroad.
Candidates must be enrolled in a full year of coursework or research. A partial year of study or research is not financially supported by an international fellowship.

 

There is no eligibility for programs that expire before April of the fellowship year.
Traditional classroom-based programs of study at colleges or higher education institutions are supported by master’s/first professional degrees and doctorate fellowships. This program does not offer financial support for online or distance learning courses, or for degrees that heavily rely on remote learning components. AAUW will make the final determinations regarding what qualifies as distant learning for the purposes of these fellowships.
