The University of Toronto Scholarship (Lester B. Pearson Award) is awarded annually to recognize outstanding students from around the world, including those currently studying at Canadian high schools. This is the University of Toronto’s most prestigious and competitive scholarship for international students.
The scholarship is available exclusively for first-entry undergraduate programs at the University of Toronto. Each year, approximately 37 students will be selected as Lester B. Pearson Scholars.
Requirements for University of Toronto Scholarship 2025
To be eligible for the Pearson International Scholarship, you must:
- Be an international student (i.e., a non-Canadian requiring a study permit);
- Be in your final year of secondary school or have graduated no earlier than June 2024;
- Be starting your studies at the University of Toronto in September 2025 (students already attending post-secondary studies or starting in January 2024 at another institution cannot be considered).

How to Apply for University of Toronto Scholarship 2024 (Step by Step)
The 2024 competition for the Lester B. Pearson Award is now open. Follow these steps to apply:
- Receive a Nomination: Your high school must nominate you. Schools not previously contacted can apply to participate in the program here. Schools that have participated in previous years will receive nomination access in early September.
- Apply to the University of Toronto: Apply to begin your studies in September 2024 and complete your admission application by the deadlines. Note that you will be considered for the Pearson Scholarship for your first-choice program at U of T. You can apply for multiple programs, but if awarded, the scholarship will be tied to your first-choice program at the time of decision.
- Complete the Scholarship Application: Once nominated and after applying to the University of Toronto, complete the online Lester B. Pearson Scholarship application. You will receive a private link to this application once your school has successfully nominated you.
